We departed Millington, Tn and drove to the Tupelo, MS area. We stayed a couple of nights at Natchez Trace RV Park. It was a Passport America park, which was nice. We rested up for a couple of days and toured the area. Nothing to rave about, but the scenery was nice.
Next we drove from MS on to Talladega Creekside RV Park in Talladega, AL. We enjoyed our short stay there. This is only a 16 site RV Park, but nice and quiet. The owners daughter had just had a baby, so they told us to make ourselves at home. We found a nice site and settled in. We would go back to this camp ground again if we are in the area. We drove by the track and the Hall of Fame.
We drove from Talladega to Southern Trails RV Resort which is a RPI park. Unfortunately, when we checked in, we found out that they do not take credit cards with RPI. This is not normally a big deal, but we are usually prepared for these situations, but we had NO WARNING AT ALL, we did notify RPI so they could put it on their web site so others would not be taken by surprise like we were. We had rain for several days and they had had rain before we got there, so water was standing everywhere. This camp ground even had a church on the grounds.
After our 11 day stay at Southern Trails in Unadella, GA we drove the arduous 17 mile drive to the Georgia National Fair grounds in Perry, GA for the Georgia Good Sam Samboree (Rally). It was really good to see so many friends from several different areas. They had some really good entertainment and the usual vendors. Camping World had a few rigs for sale. They only had one 5th wheel and some small class C's and a couple of SMALL class A's. Only one fair size diesel pusher, and it was Very used. I still feel, if they are only bringing a few rigs to sell, they should allow more sales companies to participate. While we were there, we had the rig washed and gel coated and the truck washed. They really needed it.
From the Georgia Samboree we headed to Cleveland, GA to visit with Debby's aunt. We will be here for a week. Yesterday we met up with Tom & Pat Grice, whom we have known for quite a few years from Good Sam's and The Tampa RV Super Show. Today we went and visited with Debby's aunt who is 96 and is spry as can be, and really sharp. Debby also got to visit with her cousin, her aunt's daughter who she hadn't seen in over 40 years. Debby's aunt "cooked" by taking us out to Olive Garden. We also found out that a friend of ours from Escapees is only about 80 miles from here, so tomorrow we are meeting them half way for a visit. It should be fun.
From here we will head to the North Carolina Samboree at Tom Johnson Camping World in Marion, NC. We will head up there on Sunday. We expect to have A LOT of fun. So far, my mom is hanging in there. So no need to head back up there yet.
Y'all travel safe, and I'll type more later.
Would love to see Tom and Pat Grice! And you two. Good camping memories.
