April Update

Well, it has been almost 2 months since I updated everyone on our travels.  We finished with door prizes for Escapade, and rounded up quite a few.  We then enjoyed doing coffee and donuts while at Escapade.  We toured the "Row" and enjoyed visiting with folks that represented the chapters that we belong to.    While we were at Escapade, I had a R F Mogul Satellite dish installed, an Airforce One brake supplemental system installed in the tow car, and had RV Roof Armor do the roof on the motor home.  That kind of took a BIG chunk out of our budget, and, of course, I took the cash for all this out of my IRA.  You will notice that we enjoyed the 90th birthday party for Kay Peterson, SKP 1.

We stayed around Tucson after Escapade.  We moved into Davis-Monthan AFB Fam Camp, where we promptly came down with the crud!  We ended up extending our stay 3 times until we felt good enough to travel.  We were once again in the "new" section, where we were 2 years ago with a view of the "Bone Yard".

We next traveled to Congress, AZ to Escapee park North Ranch.  This a park that only has 30 amp service, so it was good that it didn't get to hot.  While we were there we visited with Denny and Suzie Orr.  Denny even took us on a trip on his RZR to show us what everyone there enjoys for entertainment.  We both had a good time.  We did have a problem with our door handle, it broke.  I ordered one from Tiffin and installed it and all is well now.

Next we traveled to Bullhead City, AZ on the Colorado River.  We stayed at Silver View RV Resort.  This is a nice park, but the roads are a little tight to get around in with the motor home and car.  We did have an issue about 1/2 mile from the park, the motor home over heated and STOPPED!  It wasn't bad enough that is was on the road with NO WHERE to pull over, but it completely stopped.  It was only a short way to the RV Park, so we let it cool and drove on.

Next we drove to Nellis AFB and stayed at the Dessert Eagle RV Fam Camp.  This is a uniquely laid out park.  It is laid out in wagon wheel areas.  We had the good fortune to visit with our friends, Gary and Mary Olsen while we were there.  We really enjoyed seeing them and hearing about their trip to Bancock.  Sounds like they really had a good time.  While we were there, we found that the Air Force retirees have a much better system than the Navy does.  We came to this conclusion when we say a Prevost with a 40' trailer behind it and 2, not 1 but 2 Rolls Royce's parked in the parking area for that rig.  He is a really nice guy.

Today we left Nellis AFB in Las Vegas and drove the 212 miles to Togopah, NV.  We are in a Motel type housing that just added about 20 rv sites.  Once we got parked, the wind picked up and I'm glad I don't have to drive in this.  It is REALLY STRONG!  Anyway, we will be here for 2 nights and then be headed toward NAS Fallon to their Fam Camp.  We are slowly working our way to Seattle for our Alaskan Cruise.
I'll try to do better updating you.  Travel Safe and I'll type more later.
