May 2019 Update

Good Morning all:

We left Pima County Fairgrounds on 8 April and headed to Dream Catcher Escapees RV Park and stayed there for 2 weeks.  It is a no frills park, but just the kind we like.  No Trees!  LOL.  No problems getting satellite.  The only issue we had while we were there was WIND!  We had a gust of 65 MPH while we were there.  Not to crazy about heavy winds, but at least we were not traveling in it  I did participate in the Wed. night jam session, although as it had been 2 years since I played, I only played for a little over an hour.  The work campers there, Tonya and Scott are very good and they seem to have a lot of fun playing.  We also participated in Taco Tuesday at the motel next door on bpth nights that they had them.  GOOD TACOS, at a reasonable price, $1 each.

We left Dream Catcher RV Park and headed to Holloman AFB and their FamCamp.  No reservations, so we did not know if we would get in or not, but we got a site in the new section.  This is a rather small FamCamp with 36 sites.  The third row, which is what we are in it the new section.  Nice sites, but our cable does not work, but that was not a problem as it is DirectTV anyway and our Dish Network works just fine here.  We are getting Alburquerque Stations as we did in Deming,   They seem to cover the entire state.  We are staying here for 3 weeks as we are just killing time on our way to South Dakota to visit our friends Bill and Donna.  We are planning on working Field Day with them and their club.

We took a couple of scenic tours while here.  The Lincoln National Forrest and the Billy the Kid scenic tour.  With the Billy The Kid, we also stopped at Smokey The Bear Memorial, where the original Smokey The Bear is burried.

The Smokey The Bear Historical Park is a small  2 acre, well maintained and interesting park.  I would highly recommend it to anyone who visits the area.

We did find something for Bob Willie and I hope he enjoys this.

We found a couple of train stores here in the Alamagordo, NM area and surounding area.  I think you would really enjoy these stores.

We also visited Valley of Fire BLM recreational area.  Very interesting.  So much so, we are hoping to stay there for a week when we leave here on Monday.

Just a bunch of Lava, but you would not expect it here in the middle of no where.  Very interesting to say the least.  They have 18 water and electric sites and we are hoping to get to stay there when we leave here.  From there we will be heading to Kirkland AFB and their FamCamp.  They also do not take reservations, so we are hopeful to be able to get in there until the 30th of this month.

Well, I'll write more the start of next month.  Y'all travel safe and take care!
