Beautiful weather today!  Unfortunately, I spent the day under the bathroom sink replacing the faucet.  At least it is complete with no leaks.  I had to go to Home Depot twice to get the correct parts, so I spent more on fuel than the parts cost.  I had to go the second time because I grabbed one wrong part, but I took it back, got home and 10 min later, it was done.  Whoever designed that mess should be shot!  No room to work around, but I finally got it.  Tomorrow I will adjust my hitch in the truck so I don't have the problem again of the pin hitting the side of the cover.  I will have to get a new rail for the drivers side of the bed.  I haven't looked yet to see how much that will cost.  The  Chapter 42 Rally starts tomorrow.  Breakfast at 8:00 AM.  They seem like really good folks, much like the Chapter 29 folks.  It has been our experience the most Escapees are good folks.  I guess it doesn't hurt that we all have something in common.  So far this trip, it appears that there was  a huge sale on Allegro Phetons.   A LOT of folks have them.  Nice looking rigs!  Anyway, I'm going to rest the rest of the evening, after I return the tool I borrowed.
Y'all Drive safe, and I'll type more later.

Weather today was much better than yesterday.  Still had some rain, but not a severe as yesterday.  We went to Camping World today and purchased a new faucet for the lavatory in the bathroom.  Then we went to Town & Country Ford, the closest Ford dealer and got 2 new front tires.  Our right from tire had a chunk out of it.  I had planned on getting new tires before we left, but just ran out of time.  After that, we went to Publix.  Yes, they have Publix up here.  When we arrived back at the campground, we were greeted by folks from Chapter 42 inviting us to dinner.  We gave Steve Masterson a ride, he is the president of Chapter 29.  We enjoyed the company.  We went to the Colorado Grill and enjoyed a very nice meal with some very nice folks.  Just relaxing now in the coach.  We had a little rain this evening, but nothing to hard.
Have a good evening, and I'll type more later.

Arrived safely at Nashville Country RV Park in Goodlettsville, TN.  This travel day included lots of rain, but no heavy wind, which I was concerned about.  The truck did much better in fuel mileage.  I'm sure that is because of the lower speeds I did due to the mountains and rain.  The truck showed up to 9.5 MPG at times.  We traveled 285 miles today, only one more long day scheduled on our way to Goshen, IN.  We have a 330 mile day on the 8th of May, but much shorter on our next leg.  All the rain we have gone through has made the truck and coach REALLY DIRTY!  I may have to take some time to wash them.  I discovered a small chuck out of our right front tire.  So far no problems, but I am going to have to invest in front tires soon.  I was going to buy them before we left, but just ran out of time.  Tenn has such a high sales tax, I would like to buy them in some other state.  Even with the rain, we did see some beautiful scenery. I do enjoy the sites in the mountains, but I really do not care to drive in them.  We are staying here for a week, and will enjoy an Escapees Chapter 42 rally while we are here.  It will be nice to relax for a few days.
Y'all take care, and I'll type more later! :)

We had another fun day with Chapter 29 Escapees.  It started with breakfast, then their chapter meeting, social hour this afternoon and the pot luck dinner.  We have met some really nice folks here this week.  We are really looking forward to our next leg going to Goodlettsville, TN.  We will be leaving on Monday.  It will be a long driving day, but I'm sure it will be worth it.  We got notified that our buyers for our house backed out.  No one seems to know exactly why, but we'll just move on to the next looker.  The house had only been listed for 2 weeks, so it was really fast anyway.  Of course, that would have been ok with us.  There have been other folks look at the house, so maybe some of them may have an interest.  Time will tell.
Y'all keep safe, and I'll write later.

Another wonderful day at Chapter 29 Escapee rally here in Creekwood Farm RV Park.  Woke up this morning at 39 deg.  The chapter provided breakfast which was delicious. Debby and I had a busy time going over the offer we have on the house, and  before the craft show  the chapter put on, we made a counter offer.  Time will tell if it is accepted.  Then we met for Happy Hour as pictured below.

After happy hour we all went out to dinner   Pretty big spread.  They served salad, fried chicken, fish and ham with mashed potatoes, green beans, rice and cole slaw.  After dinner, they served banana pudding.  Pictures below from dinner.

On the way back to the campground, Debby and I stopped and filled up with fuel so we would not have to go out again  before we leave for our next destination on Monday.  Once we got back to the campground, the chapter had a campfire gathering.  All in all, it was a fun day.

Y'all drive safe and I'll type more later.  :)

What beautiful weather we had today!  The rally started today with a "bring your favorite beverage" get together.  Very interesting!  I started the day off by adjusting my roll bac drivers side rail.  The cover moves Much better and is almost right.  I need to move the rail about 1/4 inch back further and I think it will be ok.  I still have a little to much gap at the tail gate.  At least I can roll it back and forward with out to much difficulty.  Debby and I went WalMart with Larry and Marilyn Forbes, and I thank them for driving, once again.  After the trip to WalMart, it was time to register for the rally.  We had dinner first, then registered for the rally.  Then we all went to the rec room for our get together.  Met lots of good folks.  After that we retired into the rig and cleaned up, so not much since.  Will look forward to the rest of the rally.  Yall take care and I'll type more later! :)

What a beautiful day here at Maggy Valley, NC.  I checked the hot water heater compartment to ensure there are no leaks, and there aren't.  Then I put everything back together and put the tools away.  We were able to meet LOTS of Escapees today.  The folks of Chapter 29 seem really nice.  The rally starts tomorrow and we expect it to be a lot of fun.  We went to dinner this evening with the group and had yummy dinner, and the company was great.  We want to thank Larry and Marilyn Forbes for driving.  We would not have been able to park our truck in the parking lot.  It was just that crowded.  Settled down for the evening now in the rig.  Looking forward to the rally.  I will try to adjust the roll bac cover tomorrow so it closes even.  Right now it is off by about an inch on the drivers side.  I guess when I backed into the site I did more damage than I thought.
You all take care, I'll type more later.

Another Day of Travel

What a beautiful area Maggy Valley is.  That is where we are now.  Drove 117 miles today from Cleveland, GA. to Maggy Valley, NC.   Nice campground Creekwood Farm RV Park.  Only issue we encountered, was a little white knuckle driving in the mountains in the rain.  I was the first time I have driven in the mountains, and the rain made it a little scary.  But, we made it with no problem.  We are looking forward to the Escapee Chapter 29 Rally we are attending here.  After this stop, we will be heading towards Nashville for an Escapee Chapter 42 Rally.  Longer stops now.  We will be here for 6 days.  Next stop is for a week.
You all travel safe.  I will type again later.

Today we had a wonderful visit with Debby's 95 year old aunt.  She is in GREAT shape and very sharp.  I hope if I live that long I can be in such shape.  We went and shipped the Dish internet equipment back, then the GPS got us all twisted around.  I guess it was driver error.  We eventually got the Debby's aunts place.  The trip home to the rig was uneventful.  We have discovered that in this area, the Diesel pumps are not with the gas pumps.  We got MUCH better fuel mileage this trip, however, we did drive around more without the rig.  Got 8.7 MPG!  Much better than the 7.11 we got Friday.  Tomorrow we head towards Waynesville, NC and chapter 29 Escapee's rally.  We will be a couple of days early, but maybe we can get a couple of items fixed on the rig.  It's just been one thing after another.  Now the faucet in the bathroom is leaking.  I'm not sure if anything else, ie; hose etc is also leaking, so I plan on looking it all over real good while we are stopped for a week.  Anyway, you all travel safe, I'll type more later.

Sunday, April 20, 2014

Today we went from Elko, GA to Cleveland, GA.  187 miles.  Not that far, but tomorrow we plan on visiting Debby's aunt.  She lives in Gainesville, GA.  When I tried to dump last night, the black tank valve would not open.  I crawled under the coach this afternoon after we arrived and got it loose.  The black tank is now empty.  I really don't want to have to do that again.  It appears that the fuel efficiency was a little better today.  I'll know more when I fill up tomorrow.  We are camped in Leisure Acres Campground.  It's a nice campground, but the only local TV is PBS and I can not get a signal on Dish.  We are watching movies on WD Live.  Glad I put all those movies on hard drive.  I knew it would come in handy.  We are going to Waynesville, NC on Tuesday to attend Chapter 29 Escapees rally.  We will be there a week.  I will try to find out what is going on with our water in the sink in the bathroom while we are there.
You all take care, and drive safe.  Write later!  :)

Trip to Air Force Museum today.  Enjoyed the museum very much.  Although  I was in the Navy, I must say  that the Air Force Museum is Much bigger and better than the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola.  Several hangers full of aircraft and many on the tarmac.  It was a pleasant day even with the drizzle we had most of the day.
We found a leak in the roof last night.  Comes in through the medicine cabinet.  Hopefully it only occurs during HARD rain as we have not noticed it before.  We are hoping we can hold off until the end of June when we are having the roof redone.

Here are a couple of pictures of an SR-71 and U-2.  I had never seen these two aircraft together in one place.
After we visited the Air Force Museum, we went to the commissary and picked up some much needed groceries.  After which we looked for a UPS store to send back my modem and router back to dish for the internet, but the one we found closed at 2 PM so we will try when we get in to Gainesville, GA. on Monday.

I hope everyone is enjoying the blog.  You all drive safe, we'll type more later.

Friday, April 18, 2014

Well, our first day as full time RV'ers has come to a stop.  We stopped just south of Perry, GA. at Twin Oaks RV Park.  We will stay here for 2 nights.  Rain was the topic of the day.  We went through rain the entire trip.  Wind was also an issue.  Went through almost an entire tank of fuel going 230 miles.  Hopefully, it will get better without the wind.  Of course, we were going up hill most of the way.  I got soaked setting up, but it's complete now and I am drying off.  Debby was surprise she could find stuff without to much trouble.  We will have to go to the office to register later, but I am waiting for the rain to let up.  Tomorrow we will head to the Air Force Museum for a tour and then to the commissary.  Need some burger!  Anyway, that's about it for today.  Will write more tomorrow.
Travel safe out there.

Thursday, April 17, 2014

Well, 2 trips to the storage unit and discovered we still have stuff that should have gone.  Oh well, it will still be here when we get back from our first trip.  Leaving tomorrow morning.  Will stop in Perry, Georgia tomorrow evening for 2 nights.  We are going to tour the Air Force museum and go to the commissary.  We just haven't had the time to go here.
The rig is hooked up and only a couple of things to do in the am before we leave.  I hope the weather isn't to bad for travel.
Everyone travel safe, and I'll write later.

Tuesday, April 15, 2014

Today was a productive day.  It rained most of the day, but we did sell the car, showed the house to another neighbor who is looking in the area as he is now staying with his wife's grandmother.  There is an appointment for another showing on the house tomorrow.  Busy day scheduled tomorrow.  We need to deliver a bookcase to a friend, funeral to attend, and basically get another run to the storage unit prepared.  Hopefully this will be the last load up to the storage unit prior to leaving Friday.  It will be good to get some rest after we head out.
We were fortunate to have dinner with Ken & Sherrie Risberg this evening.  It was good to see them.  We were able to deliver a few items to them that we had for them.  Found out that the camp out we missed this weekend with the Sunset Ramblers went well.  Another new couple was there and are interested in joining our "little" Good Sams Chapter.  We have been growing A LOT since December.  It is really good to see the chapter grow.  We were so small for so long, 5 to 6 rigs.
Any way, time to pack some more stuff.  We will have to weigh while we're gone.  I'm pretty sure we are a little over weight.
Be sure to travel safe.  Write again later.

Monday, April 14, 2014

Well, it's been a couple of days since I posted, but quite a bit has happened.  We did meet with the Realtor on Thursday afternoon and listed the house.  The MLS listing was active late Thursday evening and I got a call on Saturday for an appointment to see the house.  The house was shown on Sunday afternoon.  I haven't heard anything from them, but that's ok.  We have taken several loads to the storage unit in Orange Park, and the climate controlled unit is nearly full.  The other unit still has room, but we are rapidly running out of space.  As we are leaving on Friday morning, it's really getting tight on getting everything done.  The house is nearly empty, so that's a good thing.  I got the return box for Dish Network for the TV.  I went ahead and boxed up the Hopper and the 3 Joey's.  Will send the out next time we head up to the storage unit.  We still have the unit in the Coach, so we still have pay TV.  We still have not received the return boxes for the internet.  As soon as we get them, I'll get that ready to go also.  I do want to wait until Thursday to return those as we are still using the internet.
Friday we will head towards Perry, GA. for 2 days prior to going to Gainesville, GA. to visit Debby's Aunt.  We will spend 2 days there and then head to Waynesville, NC for Chapter 29 Escapee rally. Should be fun.
Anyway, stay safe and we'll chat later.

Friday, April 11, 2014

Yesterday, we cleaned out the house so the carpet cleaners could come in and clean the carpets.  After which the realtor came and we signed the listing contract and he took pictures.  The house really looks good.  We already have an interested party, but no contract, so up the signs went.  We still have to clean out the closets and cabinets and get what we need in the rig out to it, but it is starting to come together.  Once we have all we need in the coach, we have to take LOTS of stuff to storage.  We don't want to get rid of everything just yet to ensure we have the correct stuff with us that we will need.  I just trimmed down my socks to 14.  No need to carry 50 pairs of socks.  Anyway, the house is officially up for sale.  So, if you  know anyone looking for 4.4 acres with a 1600 sq.ft. house, 1200 sq. foot garage, 12x24 storage building and 11x17 pump house, 1 paved RV site with water and 20/30/50 amp electric and an unpaved RV site with 30 amp electric and water, plus a dump site, send them our way.
Now we are starting to run out of time before we leave.  It's plane to see that we will not get the coach fixed before we head out, but I have already talked with General RV about waiting until we return to have it fixed.  We also have an appointment to have the roof redone on 30 June, so we know we'll be back in this area by then.
Ya'll travel safe, and hopefully we'll see you along the way.

Thursday, April 10, 2014

Slept in our new home last night as we were up until midnight emptying the house out for the carpet cleaner today.  Finished this morning and he is here now.  It is pretty well empty, at least the carpet area is.  Still LOTS to do yet.  We leave headed for Goshin, IN next Friday.  Hopefully all will be complete by then.

Will keep all up to date.

Travel safe,

Chick & Debby

It's been awhile since I updated everyone on this.  We have been VERY busy getting the house ready to sell.  Had a yard sale last week end, which went pretty well.  Still have stuff in the garage, so some lucky charity will be getting quite a bit of stuff.  At the garage sale, some one who came to help move some furniture we sold, seemed very interested in purchasing the house.  He went to the realtor and was with them for over 2 hours.  Now he is trying to get pre-approved for a loan.  We'll see what happens.  We are about out of time.  We depart next Friday to start our 2-3 month trip.  Have to get back by the end of June as we have an appointment to have the roof redone on the coach.  We also will have to have our coach repaired once we get back as the parts will not be in in time to have the repair done by the time we leave.  It has really been hectic here.  It will all be worth it once we are done and on the road.

You all travel safe and we'll be seeing you on the road.
