The Kids Visit

After we did our 3 leg tour of the Grand Canyon, the next morning we went to Bearazona!  What a fun place if you like animals.  Daughter is really into animals and she had a GREAT time.  We took a few pictures, and I think the high light of the day were the new bear cubs.

This is a fairly new 169 acre park that is only 5 years old.  I think this is a must see for anyone going to the Williams, AZ area.  After our visit to Bearazona, the kids went off for a 600 + mile trip of their own.  They hit 4 corners, lots of route 66 things and lots of scenic hi ways.  while they did that, Debby and I moved to Verde Valley Thousand Trails in Cottonwood, AZ.  This is a nice park, however, a lot of the sites have lots of front yard, and NO BACK AT ALL.  Right up against the neighbors unit.  To make it worse, our neighbor is an annual lease holder (it appears) and they store A LOT of STUFF around their rig.  I think it detracts from the beauty of the park.

Since we have been here, we went to Montezumas Well, Montezumas Castle followed by Tuzigoot ruins, all National Monuments, so our entry was free due to my seniors pass.  I highly recommend them all.

Once we left Tuzigoot ruins, we drove through Sedona.  What a beautiful area!  After which we took the scenic route to Prescott to take the kids to their first visit to an In N Out burger.  Daughter did not participate, but Son enjoyed a triple triple animal style.

Yesterday, we relaxed and looked at the 1000's of pictures taken by the kids.  Today they drove off early to catch their plan back to Jacksonville.  They texted us to let us know that they have loaded and are awaiting take off.  I'm sure they will let us know when they arrive safely.
Debby and I will be planning our next leg of our journey.  We will be heading to Utah next, followed by Mt. Rushmore.  For now, we will relax a bit and make reservations as we are approaching the July 4th holiday.  We want to make sure we have a place to park for that week.
Y'all travel safe, and I'll type more later.

Grand Canyon

We left Las Vegas on Sunday and drove to Williams, AZ.  An uneventful drive, just hilly.  Last evening we went out to dinner at Pine Country Rest.  The food was good, but the pies were out of this world!  We really enjoyed them.  Today we did a triple header!  We did the flying tour of the Grand Canyon,  Beautiful views the entire flight.

After the flight, we took a jeep to Antelope Canyon.  This is a must if ever in this area.  It was beautiful!!

After Antelope Canyon we took the river raft tour of the Colorado River.. This was a lot of fun.  We started at Glen Canyon Dam at Lake Powell, which we flew over earlier that morning.  Our guide was a lot of fun and Debby and the kids really enjoyed all of our tours.

Once we got back to the landing and off loaded, we took a coach back to Grand Canyon Airport to pick up our car.  The route that was taken was interesting.  We stopped at a Navaho Indian Trading post and when we went back through the Grand Canyon National Park, the views were spectacular!!!!  Unfortunately, my phone died, so I was unable to take any pictures.  I promise upload some once I get to download my daughters photos.
Tomorrow we will do Bearazona, and take the kids to pick up their rental car.  It appears that we are doing the creator park also.

Y'all travel safe, and I'll type later!

What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas

We left Earp, CA and drove to Las Vegas, NV.  Nice drive.  We went north on US 95, which in Arizona is a 2 lane road, but when we went over Nevada line, it turned into a divided 4 lane highway.  The first rest area we came to was really nice and was a welcome way to enter Nevada.

When we got to Thousand Trails Las Vegas, the park is  a pretty nice park.  Its main draw back is the very narrow sites.  They are 20' wide, but getting into them is the challenge.  Our neighbor helped guide us in and we got parked nicely.  We came here to pick up the kids who are visiting with us and traveling to the  Grand Canyon with us.  Here is a couple of pictures of the park and our site.

Last night we picked up the kids at the airport.  They arrived safely and today we toured the strip. We plan on going to Hoover Dam tomorrow.  We will be heading to Williams, AZ on Sunday for our tours of the Grand Canyon.
