Our new roof is DONE!

Today they finished our new roof on the RV.  I have attached a photo.  It is guaranteed for LIFE!  I took them 2 days to complete it, but it appears to be worth it.  I would recommend RV Armor to anyone who want a great looking and functional roof on their RV.  They even come to you, you don't have to go to them.   The couple who completed the work were really nice and made sure they cleaned up the coach really good.  Should you decide to have them do your roof, mention my name as who recommended them to you, and I'll get a little reward.  We can all use a little reward.
We finished packing up all of the garage today.  Now we just need someone to pick it up.  Tried to set up a pick up with AM-VETs but they can't come until the 9th.  As we are closing on the 7th, that will not do.  I guess we'll see if Habitat for Humanity can come get it.  It will be good to get the stuff all gone.
We found out that the VA appraiser did not note any repairs to be made!  All we need now is for the buyers loan to come out of underwriting and they will order the survey.  Still on for the 7th?!!!

Anyway, y'all travel safe, and I'll type more later!

Our Home Has Returned!

Today we got our 5th wheel back from the repair shop.  It still has some work to be completed, but General RV did a great job!  It will be good to sleep in our own bed tonight rather than the air mattress we have been using on the floor.  We have been very busy getting the last of our items boxed and either ready to go to charity or to storage.  We also found out today the the appraisal on the house came back and, of course, it valued at selling price, so the only thing left to complete is the survey, and that will not be done until the buyers load is approved.  We hope we are still on to close on the 7th of July.  Hopefully we will be getting the washer/dryer combo next week, as well as the new roof.  The roof is supposed to start on Monday.  I have attached a picture of the completed work on the 5th wheel.

Travel Day To Middleburg

Today we drove the 240 miles from Elko, GA to Middleburg, FL.  We are relaxing at our home, for that last couple of weeks.  The coach is going into the shop Thursday to repair the damage from the blow-out in March.  I will have to see if they can do the repairs from the flat we had last week.  It should not be to bad as I already have the fender cover.   I guess I'll find out Thursday.  We have lots of stuff still in the garage that has to go Somewhere.  I guess we will get that done before we close on the 7th, assuming the appraisal comes in as expected.  That is all that is left, so we are hopeful all will go well.  We are going to go with our Good Sams Chapter in July and August, we just have to decide if we will stay at the campground they selected for a month, or go somewhere else.  We still have to get our washer/dryer installed, if Camping World ever responds to me.  The manager of the Lake City store agreed to sell me a Splendide 2100XC for an internet sale price and get the $39 install.  I sent him an email yesterday, but he has not responded.  That seem to be the standard for them, put it off until they are out of stock of what you want.  Anyway, tomorrow I will do a couple of things around here after we go into Orange Park to chat with the president of our Chapter and then to lunch with friends who are enjoying their 31st wedding anniversary.  We will not be traveling for a couple of weeks, until we close on the house.  Must look for new insurance as we will be leaving State Farm.
Anyway, travel safe, and I'll type more later.

Another Travel Day

The last couple of days have been interesting.  Yesterday we got up and hooked up and took the rig to get 2 new tires on the curb side.  The damage was minimal, but the left rear jack is leaking and the fender cover is gone.  I have another fender cover, but I'll have the jack repaired while the other side is being repaired starting Thursday.  I took Debby to Zaxby's last evening and we enjoyed a pleasant dinner.  This morning we got up and dumped, hooked up and drove 179 miles to Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko, GA.  This will be the last stop before we get back to Middleburg and take the coach in for repair.  This is a nice park, and we have made reservations for the night before the Georgia Samboree in September.  We will take 2 nights here to rest up for the last leg of the trip back to Middleburg.  If all goes well, we will be homeless effective 7 July, as that is the day we close and the new owners take custody of the house.  I hope we have the coach repaired, washer/dryer installed and roof redone by then.  If not, we'll have the roof redone at a campground somewhere, probably in Florida.  We look forward to spending some time with our Good Sam Chapter, the Sunset Ramblers.   We plan on camping with them in July through September.  We'll have to see about October, but will be going to the November Samboree.  Looks like we will attend Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and South Carolina samborees this year.

Ruby Falls Today

Today we visited Ruby Falls.  As we have never been in this area with any time to tour, we enjoyed the cave and the Falls.  Debby and I went out to get fuel, and decided to look around, and went to Ruby Falls.  Quite interesting.  I have attached a couple of photos to share our experience.  I hope you enjoy.  Tomorrow we travel again.  Short day.

Travel Day

Today was another travel day.  We ended up at Raccoon Mountain RV Park and Campground.  This was the longest leg of our trip back to Middleburg, 266 miles.  We will stay here for 2 nights and then into Georgia.   We are going to stop north of Atlanta as we don't want to go through Atlanta on a week day.  We feel that Sunday would be an easier day for us to travel through it.  I failed to say anything about the family Christmas get together.  I really enjoyed it and it was really good to see family that I haven't seen in MANY years.  I doubt that we will go every year, but maybe we can get to go again.  We are still on schedule to get back to Middleburg on the 17th.  I have made an appointment to get the coach repaired on the 19th.  We have been busy making reservations for the winter as we know that Snow Birds will be taking up many locations.  Going to several Good Sam Samborees and Escapee rallies.  We will start going places for a month at a time, probably starting in July or August.

Travel Day to Paducah, KY

Today we traveled to Paducah, KY.  We will stay here for 2 nights and then on to Chattanooga, TN.  We are slowly making our way back to the Jacksonville, FL. area.  When I was preparing for hook up last night, I discovered our hitch was broken.  One of the screws had come out and the hitch would not open or close completely.  I rebuilt it as best I could, and found this morning that it would not close completely.  It would close about 7/8's complete.  As we really did not have a lot of time, I tested it and found that it would hold, so off we went and drove our 166 miles to Paducah.  Once we got here and got set up, we went to Wal Mart and I got some Lock Tight and took Debby to dinner at Ryan's and then we came back to camp and I once again took the hitch apart.  I think it is fixed now.  It closes completely and we'll find out more on Wed.  Our visit at home was very emotional.  I had to get as much information for my mother, who is now in a nursing home.  I found that her house that she paid cash for, and took a reverse mortgage on, is being repossessed so she has no place to go should she get better, but it was very obvious that dementia has set in.  Hopefully she will get a little more assistance and will be able to stay where she is.  They seem really nice and were taking very good care of her.  Attached is a picture of my hitch that would not close all the way.

A Trip To Grant's Farm

Today, Debby and I went to Grant's Farm.  It has been decades since I had been there, and there have been many changes.  It was interesting to see all the animals and especially the Clydsdales!  Of course, everyone wants to see the horses.  We spent about 5 hours there, and really enjoyed the day.  I will attach some  pictures for those who may be interested.  I would recommend this trip to anyone!  I talked with my brother a little while ago.  He did go to the bank today and got the stuff out of moms safety deposit box.  We may have all the items we need to get her the financial assistance she needs.  He is bringing it to us this evening, so I guess we'll find out then.  We only have tomorrow to get all the items needed to the nursing home as the administration department is closed on the week ends and we are leaving on Monday to head home.  One of the interesting things that we experienced today, the young colt in the ad that was sticking his head out the fence a few years ago was Evan, and we had our picture taken with him.  He has REALLY grown.  He is now 18 hands tall at the back and weighs 2 tons!  He is a BIG BOY!

A Day to Help Mom

Today we were going to go to Grants Farm, but thought we had better help find the paperwork so mom could get help for the nursing home.  We made 2 trips to her home, and gathered information and took it to the administrator of the nursing home.  We could not find everything that they needed, but we did help find some items that were missing.  I was very thankful that my brother, who lives in her home was very cooperative and helpful.  I thank him for his assistance.  He is now looking for some place to live as well, so I know he has a lot on his mind.  We tried to visit with mom a couple of times today, but she was asleep each time we went into her room.  We will try to go back later on this week and visit with her.  Physically she looks good.  I think they are treating her well.  I do know that everyone we talked with was very helpful and kind.  I think she has found a good place to stay.  We are hoping that Christopher, my nephew, will consent to being power of attourney so someone local can help with decisions if need be.  My brother is going to talk with him about it.  We may try to go to Grants Farm on Thursday.  I haven't been there in years, but Debby has never been there.  She is anxious to see the Clydsdales.   They are deffinately pretty.  As I have had some objections to my posts on Escapee Chapter 57 Facebook page, I will no longer have a link there.
