June Update

We left Valley of Fires and went to and went to Kirtland AFB FamCamp.  But before I get to that, I forgot last update to mention that we went to White Sands National Monument.  Beautiful area and I did not want to forget to share about it again.

Beautiful white sands of the beach without the salt or the water.

We enjoyed Kirtland AFB in Albuquerque, NM.  We were in the area last October while cohosting the Escapees Balloon Fiesta HOP.    This time we saw areas that we were unable to see, due to lack of time, while we were here in October.  What we did get to do was visit with the caterer from the balloon fiesta.  It was good to see Howard and Julie.

We left Kirtland AFB and traveled to Willow Springs RV Park in Raton, NM.   Found out that Raton used to be named Willow Springs.  Not sure when it changed names.  Willow Springs RV Park is a small park, but very friendly owners and seems to have a very loyal following.  Our neighbors there had been there twice before and love the place.  It is a small park, but very cozy and sites are level.

Our next stop was the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, CO.  What a beautiful place.  The FamCamp is fairly nice with large and level sites.  This is a place that I would highly recommend to anyone who can get on board the base.  The Chapel is the most visited tourist site in Colorado.  That kind of surprised me.

We are now at Area's Finest Country View Campground in Ogallala, NE.  I have not gone out yet to take pictures, but it is a very nice campground.  Only 42 sites, but close to I-80 and good for  a couple of nights.  We will head out tomorrow to go further east and then up to Bill and Donna's on Monday for a couple of weeks and to work Field Day with them and their Ham Club.
Until next time, enjoy life and travel safe.
