Monthly Update

Once the  reunion was complete, we visited with some old friends, Steve and Elaine Williamson, and departed Carlyle Lake COE park and drove north to Gailesburg East Campground in Knoxville, IL.  We stayed there for 2 nights before heading on to Grant COE Park in Potosi, WI.  Both of the COE parks were nice enough, but only had electricity.  We were thankful for that as the weather had really started to get hot.  Camping in WI, completed our loser 48 states camped in and the only state that we can drive to left to camp in is AK.  We did go on a cruise last year to AK, but we still have not camped there.  Maybe in the future. We stayed at Grant Campgound for 4 nights before heading to our friends, Bill and Donna's in Sprinfield, SD.

We had a wonderful visit with our friends Bill and Donna. We stayed with them for 19 days. It was really good to visit with them.

We left Bill and Donna's house and headed south toward Livingston, TX to volunteer at C.A.R.E.  We pretty much followed the trek we went last year.  Our next stop was a York RV Park in York, NE.  We stayed there for four nights and then went on to Wellington KOA in Wellington, KS.  We only stayed there for one night and headed on to Red River Ranch and RV Park in Thackerville, OK.  We stayed at Red River Ranch for 6 nights.  The closest stores near the campground were 10 miles away in TX.  This campground was right on the TX/OK boarder.  It was a nice campground, but the temperatures were really high.   We enjoyed temperatures up to 118 degrees while we were there.

We next headed to Lake Conroe Thousand Trails park.  This is one of the nicest Thousand Trails we have been in, at least the section we were in.  We were in the "New" section, with paved sites and patios, fire rings and full 50 amp hook ups.  We toured the area and the park.  The remainder of the park is like many Thousand Trails parks, roads need work, most of the other sites are in less than optimum condition.  As with most Thousand Trails, the amenities are really nice.

We stayed at Lake Conroe Thousand Trails until July 30th and headed the 60 miles to Escapees C.A.R.E. in Livingston, TX.  We are volunteering again as we did last September.  We will be here until 4 September when we will be heading west towards the Balloon Festia.  We are really looking forward to that.

Well, travel safe and I'll write more later.
